Also very common is this brightly colored Hygrocybe miniata, a wax-cap species. The caps are 1-3 cm across, stalks up to 7 cm tall.

After a dry period it started raining. So good news for the mushrooms, bad news for people.Here’s a very common species: Sulphur Tuft (Psilocybe fascicularis) on a moss-grown spot.

Afgevlogen vrouwtje van de zuidelijke bandspanner
De zuidelijke bandspanner (Orthonama obstipata) is een zeldzame nachtvlinder in Nederland. Het is een trekvlinder uit de familie van de spanners (Geometridae).
Nogal bijzonder is het verschil tussen de twee geslachten. Het mannetje is lichtbruin met een donkere centrale band, het vrouwtje is iets groter en donkerder met een witte vlek op elke voorvleugel.
De nachtvlinder op de foto is duidelijk een vrouwtje, ze ziet er wellicht door de lange reis gehavend uit.
When I was examining the pictures I shot of the Juniper Carpet, I noticed the colourfull background of the leaf the moth was sitting on.
The next subject was born, so I made some detail photographs of the same leaf.

It’s Juniper carpet (Thera juniperata), a geometridae with a wingspan of about 26 mm. Juniper carpet flies in the autumn and is attracted to light.
This morning I had three of these moths sitting next to my outside light.

Here’s one you can eat. It a small detail of a Romanesco cauliflower (Brassica oleracea) also known under the name ‘Broccoflower’.

Feeding on the flowers and seeds of the common toadflax (Linaria vulgaris) is this larva of the toadflax pug (Eupithecia linariata).

The 16-spot orange ladybird (Halyzia 16-guttata) has a bright orange or yellow colour with creamy white spots. It feeds on mildew. Notice the transparent edge on its wing-cover and head.

Last weekend I photographed this spider on the bark of a pine-tree. It’s Drapetisca socialis, a tiny Sheet web spider which makes very fine vertical webs on the barks of trees.
